The LA Rams got their first win of the pre-season by defeating the Denver Bronco’s 10-6 at the newly renovated L.A. Coliseum.

The Rams were led by John Wolford who showed good signs by moving the offense while under center. He replaced Brandon Allen in the second quarter and again in the fourth quarter. He completed 6 of 12 passes for 54 yards and a 4 yard touchdown pass to Inglewood’s own Jalen Greene.

Currently Wolford is 4th on the depth chart behind Jared Geoff, Blake Bortles and Brandon Allen.

“It’s a great culture, Sean McVay is obviously extremely very smart and Jared is a great guy to learn from.” Wolford told the L.A. Times. “All that adds up.”

In 2018 the 23 year-old Jacksonville native was prepared to start a job as an investor when he got a call from the New York Jets. He played in one preseason game completing 8 of 20 passes for 89 yards and one interception before he was released.

He then played in the AAF (Arizona Hotshots) where he led the league with 14 touchdown passes, and was second in yardage (1,617).

He drew the attention of  Rams head coach. “I thought he did a great job tonight. I thought he and Brandon both did even if there weren’t a lot of points to show,” said McVay. “I thought the offense moved under those guys leadership and got up and down the field pretty efficiently.”

The win was the Rams first of the preseason. However the starters have yet to see action. They finish up the preseason this week at the Texans then open week one in Carolina.
