Hundreds of media members came from all around the country for PAC-12’s Annual Football Media Day at Hollywood and Highland in Los Angeles.

Krys Barnes, the former Bakersfield- Liberty High stand-out, had a sensational career finishing with 275 tackles.

Now entering his final season in Westwood, he knew where he wanted to go when he saw the campus.

“When I visited the campus, I knew this is where I wanted to go to college” said the 6-2 senior. “The campus had a great warm feel to it, everyone made me feel welcome.”

Barnes will help the Bruins bounce back from a disappointing 3-9 campaign. He is the leading tackler from last years team (85). He was second on the team with tackles for loss with 10 and tied for lead with the most break-ups (6).

There have been a lot of changes. The defense has practiced a lot together during the off season. According to Barnes it showed in the spring as the defense was the talk of spring-game.

Barnes is a intellectual leader and is probably the most improved player on the defense. He has picked up a few pounds of solid mass and is listed at a chiseled 250 pounds. He has gotten faster and has set some goals.

“I want to get 100 tackles, if I can do that it will inspire my teammates and that will help win more games."

Josh Kelley In House Also

Bruin teammate Josh Kelley running back joined Barnes at Media Day both representing UCLA.

Kelley emerged as one of the best backs in the conference, totaling 1,300 yards and averaging 113.0 yards per game. He was a workhorse rushing for 100 yards in six games and at least one TD in eight games.

He also had a record-breaking game against USC as he ran for 289 yards, the most yards any running back has totaled in the history of the rivalry.

"I had a teammate tell me just keep on doing your doing what got you here “ said Kelley and now I am at PAC-12 Media day."
