The Los Angeles Dodgers are trying to win their seventh consecutive National League West title, third National League pennant, and first World Series Title since 1988.

On opening day Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up just one run. Ryu was the Dodgers 4th choice to start the opener due to injuries to Clayton Kershaw, Rich Hill and Walker Buehler.

Dodger bats were the big story as they pounded out 16 hits on the way to tying a franchise record eight home runs. Joc Peterson and Kike' Hernandez had two each. Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy, Corey Seager, Austin Barnes all went to "Uptown" with four baggers as he Dodgers defeated the D-Backs 12-5.”This is a fun offense,” said Muncy. “A couple of guys go out and get a homer and it makes you want to get one on your own.”

In game two of the series L.A. fell 5-4 in 13 innings in a game that took more than six hours making it the longest game in Dodger Stadium history.

Game three saw the Dodger bats go to "Rip City” pounding 17 hits in a 18-5 win. Cody Bellinger blasted two more homers and drove in a career high six runs. Justin Turner chipped in with five RBI's. Kenta Maeda got the win going 6 2/3 innings scattering five hits.

Game four saw the Men in Blue rally and win 8-7 as Dodger newcomer A.J. Pollock hit a key two-run double in the eight-inning. Dylan Flora got the win and Kenley Jansen got the save making his first appearance since off- season heart surgery The win helped the Los Angeles take three of four games from Arizona to claim the opening series.

Dodger Notes: While the Dodgers were beating up on the D- Backs Clayton Kershaw threw a 50-pitch three inning simulated game on the field taking another step in his return from inflammation…Dodgers new hitting Coach Robert Van Sooyoc had to be pleased with the bats. The Dodgers were second in the League with 235 homers last year...The Dodgers attendance during the opening series was 47,026.
